Early Each Day

Early each day
Life comes knocking
On my window
Breathlessly chanting
Can I come In?
Can I come in?

Somewhere between sleep
And waking realisation
I turn over and curl up
whispering
Not yet
Not yet

When the alarms are spent
And the snoozes are done
I stretch my legs and arms
My back and neck
say what the heck
Come on in
Life, come on in
